Mission Statement:

As a mental health practitioner, my goal is to walk with you through your healing process and for you to gain clarity.  Healing is a journey and will be individualized to meet your needs.  I will be with you by creating an affirming, inclusive, safe, and non-judgmental space for you to explore.  I will use an eclectic approach of evidenced-based modalities which consists of person-centered, trauma-focused cognitive behavior therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, existential therapy, green therapy, and play therapy techniques.

About Us:

I started Larada Counseling with the mission to provide support and guidance to people who want to break the generational cycle of trauma, abuse and the stigma of mental health.  Through this journey, I will be by your side, because you are the expert on your life.  You will begin to heal your mind, body and soul, and live a more fulfilling life.

Getting Started

We know that taking the initial step to begin the healing process is not easy and finding the right therapist or clinician is crucial. It is important that you feel comfortable with the therapist or clinician. When you are willing to begin your journey, please contact us to find out more.

Once a form submission is received, a team member will reach out to coordinate a time for an initial phone consult. If you need assistance, our staff is happy to assist you in determining what approaches or clinician may be most suitable to meet your needs.

  • Telephone consult.

There is no charge for this call and it usually lasts about 15 minutes. It is helpful to schedule the call at a time that when you will have enough privacy to briefly discuss your situation. This initial phone conversation is not a therapy session, but a chance to speak with the therapist or clinician to see if moving forward with an initial appointment is a good next step. During the telephone consult we may discuss areas of concerns, clarify policies, cost, and decide if the therapist or clinician are a good fit for working together.

  • Schedule.

When you are ready to begin your journey, your therapist or clinician will schedule your intake session. Prior to the intake session, you will receive forms that explain your rights, our policies and background history. Please remember to provide 48hrs notice if you need to cancel or reschedule the intake appointment.

If 48hrs notice is not provided we have the right to not schedule any future appointments.

Why counseling or therapy when I have friends and family to talk to?

It is great that you may find support in your friends and family members, however, in therapy the focus is solely on you and your journey to find clarity or even break the generational cycles.

Does counseling work?

Many people find counseling beneficial and helpful in gaining clarity, meeting goals, processing underlying trauma experiences, and gaining insight. However, there is not a magic wand or cure. Counseling requires a commitment to the process.

Are counselors or therapist trained?

Yes, a minimum of a Master’s Degree, plus thousands of hours of clinical supervision, passing the National Counseling Exam, and other exams required by the state. Counselors and therapists are required to maintain Continuing Education Units (CEUs). In addition, many counselors or therapists hold certifications in specialized areas.

How long are the sessions?

Sessions range from 45min-50min.

How often will we meet?

You will meet weekly. Your sessions will reduce when you have reached most of your goals.

How long will I need to go to therapy?

The duration of your treatment depends on the goals that you established and your commitment to the therapy process.

Are the sessions confidential?

All sessions are confidential except for your therapist being subpoenaed by the court or statements of danger to a minor, elder or yourself.
